I think your perspective here is right on target. I am pleased with her performance and think things will work. While I too have a list of issues including Gaza and overpolicing of indigenous, Latino, and Black communities, I think it was a good choice of theirs not to go there for this first debate - her job was to show his incompetence and by contrast her Presidentialness. Lots of folks who were former Trumpers I know were talking about that she deserved the white house immediately right after! If there's a next one it will be quite interesting. Will you be doing a reading for the VP debate as well? It should be quite interesting.

One thing that people forget is that while Harris is a presidential candidate, she is still the VP and Biden is her boss for the next few months. As much as she needs to court certain demographics and intersectionalities to become the president, she also can't overtly go against her boss at this time (such as Gaza). She has barely gotten some distance from the "she planned a coup with Pelosi) perception.
Same goes for her planned policies, especially since some of them run counter to Biden's. For example, I read an article a few weeks ago saying that the AIPAC people are understanding that the Harris administration will be different. I also suspect that Netanahyu sees the writing on the wall, too. He'd better enjoy the military stuff being sent to Israel because changes are probably coming.
